Yozuv is a free online tool that converts Uzbek text between all three alphabets, quickly and accurately.
What Yozuv does
- Six directions. Cyrillic to Latin and back, to the new 2026 Latin alphabet and from it.
- Detects the alphabet. Paste text and Yozuv works out which alphabet it is in, and tells you if the wrong one is selected.
- Word, PDF and TXT files. Fonts, tables and pictures in a Word document stay in place; download the result as TXT, Word or PDF.
- Tested on official texts. The rules and dictionary were checked on more than 5 million words of laws and news. Words that can be spelled two ways are highlighted in yellow.
- Private. Text and files are converted in your browser only and are never uploaded.
- Works offline and installs on a phone as an app.
- Word add-in. Convert a document inside Word with one button — how to install.
How to use it
- Type or paste text into the box above, or drop a Word, PDF or TXT file.
- Choose the target alphabet: Cyrillic, Latin (1995) or new Latin (2026).
- Copy the result or download the file. Give the words in yellow a quick look.

Frequently asked questions
Is it free?
Yes. Up to 5,000 words at a time and files up to 1 MB are free, with no sign-up. Pro covers larger files and several files at once.
Is my text safe?
Yes. Conversion runs in your browser: neither the text nor the file is sent to a server or stored.
What changed in the new Uzbek Latin alphabet?
Four letters: Oʻ → Ö, Gʻ → Ğ, Sh → Ş, Ch → Ç. All other letters stay as in the 1995 Latin alphabet. The law was signed on 21 October 2026 and takes effect six months after its official publication.
Is this a translator?
No. Yozuv changes the alphabet, not the language: Uzbek text stays Uzbek, written in Cyrillic, Latin or new Latin letters.
Why are some words yellow?
Some words cannot be converted with certainty by rules alone: Cyrillic ц, for example, becomes s or ts in Latin (цирк → sirk, лицей → litsey). Such words, when not in the dictionary, are highlighted — check them and correct them if needed.
Can I convert a Word or PDF file?
Yes. A Word (.docx) document is converted in place, keeping formatting, tables and pictures. From a PDF only the text is taken. Scanned PDFs (images) cannot be read.
