Frequently asked questions
Short answers about the new alphabet, files, privacy and Pro.
General
Is it free?
Yes. Up to 5,000 words at a time and files up to 1 MB are free, with no sign-up. Pro covers larger files and several files at once.
Is this a translator?
No. Yozuv changes the alphabet, not the language: Uzbek text stays Uzbek, written in Cyrillic, Latin or new Latin letters.
Why are some words yellow?
Some words cannot be converted with certainty by rules alone: Cyrillic ц, for example, becomes s or ts in Latin (цирк → sirk, лицей → litsey). Such words, when not in the dictionary, are highlighted — give them a quick check.
The new 2026 alphabet
When does the new Uzbek alphabet take effect?
The law was signed on 21 October 2026 and takes effect on 22 April 2027. More: the new Latin alphabet.
Which letters changed?
Four letters: Oʻ → Ö, Gʻ → Ğ, Sh → Ş, Ch → Ç. All others stay as in the 1995 Latin alphabet.
Files
Can I convert a Word or PDF file?
Yes. A Word (.docx) document is converted in place, keeping formatting, tables and pictures. From a PDF only the text is taken. Scanned PDFs and old .doc files cannot be read.
Privacy and offline use
Is my text sent to a server?
No. Conversion runs entirely in your browser: neither the text nor the file is sent anywhere or stored. Privacy policy.
Word add-in
What is the Word add-in?
A “Yozuv” tab appears on Word's ribbon with Кирилл, Lotin 1995 and Lotin 2026 buttons — the document is converted without losing its formatting. The add-in is free and has no limits.
How do I install it?
Step-by-step guide for Windows, Mac and Word on the web: Word add-in.
Free and Pro
What does Pro give me?
Unlimited text, files up to 12 MB, PDFs up to 300 pages and 20 files at once. Still all in your browser. More.
How do I get Pro?
Through our Telegram bot @yozuvlar_app_bot. After payment the bot sends a key — paste it into the Pro window on the site.
